Il Primo Pilota di Jet

In June 2012 the book "Il Primo Pilota di Jet" has been published in Italian language by LoGisma Editore. Translated by Gherardo Lazzeri from the English edition The First Jet Pilot.

Author Lutz Warsitz has recalled the many conversations with his father, in which the latter recounted in the original aviator's jargon the exciting story of the Heinkel He 176 and He 178 development. Little is known of this pioneer period because of the strict secrecy which shrouded the whole project. It is a fascinating story that tells of the birth of the jet age and flight as we know it today.

On Friday 23 March 2012, Ariane 5 VA205 with the third Automated Transfer Vehicle Edoardo Amaldi lifted off from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.

Wernher von Braun, who was born 100 years ago to the day, and Edoardo Amaldi, who was also memorialized with his name on the spacecraft, were each represented on board by copies of vintage dispatches that illustrated their respective visions for space exploration.
